Create your account
Sign up with an email address and password, verify your email, and sign in to Manuscript Studio.
An account is an email address and a password. There is no separate profile to fill in, and no team or organisation layer — a Manuscript Studio account belongs to one author.
Signing up
- Choose Start writing or Sign in in the site header.
- Switch to the sign-up form and enter your email address and a password.
- Check your inbox and click the confirmation link.
Verifying your email is not optional. AI generation, exports and audiobook narration all check it before they will run, and they will refuse with a clear message until the address is confirmed. This exists to stop throwaway accounts burning through generation, and it is checked on the server, so it applies however you reach the app.
Signing in
Sign in with the same email and password. Your books live in the cloud and are tied to the account, so signing in on another computer brings the whole shelf with you.
Changing your password
Settings → Account → Change password.
Changing your email address
You cannot, from inside the app — the option was deliberately removed.
Your email address is the identifier that sign-in, billing and support all key off, and quietly changing it is a good way to lose access to a paid account. If you genuinely need the address changed, contact support and it will be done for you.
Deleting your account
Settings → Account → the danger zone at the bottom.
Deleting an account cancels your subscription, removes your books and chapters, and deletes any audiobook audio in storage. It is not reversible.
Download a backup first if there is any chance you will want the work later — see Back up your work. The backup is deliberately not gated behind a plan, so it works even if your subscription has lapsed.
What to watch for
- A confirmation email that has not arrived is nearly always in spam. The sender is the address shown on your account page.
- Signing up does not subscribe you. A brand-new account has no plan, which means no credits and no books. The app will show you the pricing page until you choose one — see Plans and credits.
