The release bundle
One archive per publish target — interior, cover wrap, eBook files and a spec sheet — rendered together and checked against the measured page count.
The bundle is the deliverable. It renders every publish target and packages each one into its own folder.
The button is disabled until the release board is ready for at least one target.
What is in it
Per platform:
- The interior PDF, typeset to that platform's margins and gutter rule.
- The cover wrap PDF, at that platform's spine and bleed.
- eBook files where they apply.
- A spec sheet — measured page count, spine width, wrap dimensions, and any notes specific to that platform (such as supplying your own barcode).
- A README.
Spec sheets are written to open cleanly in Notepad, because that is where they get opened.
Why it is a background job
A 300-page interior through a real typesetter takes tens of seconds, and several targets multiply that. Run as separate downloads it would exceed a sensible timeout and trip the export rate limit partway through, leaving you with half a bundle.
So it is one job: one browser, one gate, one archive. Close the tab and come back.
Bundles are not metered. Exports never have been.
The backstop
Before zipping, every interior is measured again.
If the fresh measurement disagrees with the page count your cover's spine was built from, the job fails and names both numbers rather than producing an archive.
You can legitimately edit a chapter between signing off and bundling. Shipping that pair — a cover for a 312-page book wrapped around a 340-page interior — is exactly the defect this product exists to prevent, so it is caught at the last possible moment rather than by a printer.
Layout books
A layout book's bundle omits EPUB, DOCX and audiobook, and says why.
Fixed-layout eBooks need a purpose-built writer, and a reflowable EPUB of a coloring book is not a thing anyone wants. Producing empty files would be worse than declining, so the modal explains the omission instead.
What to watch for
- One bundle at a time per account.
- A target with no measured interior is refused, not substituted with an estimate — the bundle would rather fail than guess.
- Check the spec sheet against the store's form as you upload. It carries the numbers the store will ask you for.
